1. The first Europeans who lived in Australia were British prisoners. From 1788 to 1868, it was a prison colony.

4. It is home to more than 100 million sheep. It means that there are 5 times more sheep than the people.

7. Box jellyfish or Cubozoans, the most dangerous jellyfish in the world, is found on the Australian coast. It has killed more people than crocodiles and sharks altogether.

8. The vegetation in the country spreads over almost 7 million square kilometers and it covers almost 91% of Australia.

9. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world. It consists of hundreds of individual reefs that stretch over 2000 sq. km.

10. Australia has an exotic flora and fauna which cannot be found anywhere else. It has 4000 species of ants, 6000 of flies and 1500 different species of spiders.
